When I was younger, I would watch those movies of Benji. He'd be running around Greece, scaling a house, opening a door, impersonating Chevy Chase. He was a star, and I wanted to be just like him. I would play fetch with my pet and try to show off how fast I was. I would jump up on the couch, and even on the back of the couch. I thought I was a stud.

Then comes along TreT. I'm not sure what kind of evolutionary breeding has gone into him. I can only assume the Ukraine has had a history of problems with cat burglers. enjoy this video of his stunts. He's fast; he's agile; and he climbs trees!

Remember to enter my contest by the end of this week to get free pet treats and a chance to win $50 of pet food.

With Halloween just around the corner and my own easy win contest going on, I thought I would share some unusual animal customers from around the internet. The first is from Zhengzhou, China. They painted their dogs to look like wild animals.

It has been about a year since this story has hit the internet, but I found that it was hard to piece together the truth from the fanciful. Ulitmately I have relied on what seemed to be the most reliable source: National Geographic. Suriya is an orangutan at the T.I.G.E.R.S. Preservation Stations in Myrtle Beach, SC. She like to take rides with the staff on one their elephants. They would go through the woods to a nearby neighborhood.

(Imagine looking out your house and seeing an orangutan riding an elephant down the street. I'm not one to bark at cars, but I would have to say hi to them.)

They would end up at a river where the elephant would take a dip.

On one of these trips, there was a blue tick hound dog by the river. Bhagavan 'Doc' Antle, director of T.I.G.E.R.S., noticed that Suriya and the dog were staring at each other. Suriya got down from the elephant, the dog runs up, and they jump into each others arms. They played and romped together as if they were old friends.

As they were leaveing the dog followed them back to the preserve. Doc tried many times to keep him out, but Roscoe, as he is now called, keep busting back in. Roscoe searched until he found the orangutan section. Suriya spotted him and took over some of her food. The two are now almost never apart. They are happy doing just about anything together. As you will see in the pictures below this includes swimming.

Friendship is invaluable in every species. This is a great reason to have two pets, so that they have a playmate when you have to be away. Animals are social and need others. People are really no different. I like how this story shows friendship can be found in some unexpected places.

There are other stories floating around about depression, sickness, and northern California. National Geographic and subsequently ABC News do not mention this part of the story, but someone else may know if they are accurate. If so, please leave a comment and link below.

This past weekend I met the Paula Olsen, the owner of Raining Cats 'N' Dogs, a company that rescues abused and abandoned pets. They take them in, cares them back to health, and finds adoptive families for them. Ms. Olsen told me a story of a cat they took in that was so sunburned that her hair had turned red. She nursed her back to health and is now ready for adoption.

Ms. Olsen also told me the story of Bubbles. They had picked her up from a backyard breeder. Bubbles was only 6 lbs, showing all bones, and she needed immediate surgery. The blood vessels of her heart wrapped around her esophagus so solid food could not pass. Ms. Olsen had to feed Bubbles a liquid diet given when Bubble was upright. Eventually Bubbles got healthy enough for adoption and is now in a permanent home. You can see Bubble's story on the Doing More for Pets Rescue Stories Contest page.

Thank you Ms. Olsen for helping pets in need. We love you.

Oliver's Canine Camper Daytripper

Oliver came to our site and bought the Canine Camper Daytripper. He has loved posing in and in front of it, especially when there has been treats involved. His roommate, Cara, sent me these pictures and added,

"This was a VERY speedy delivery!! It is a great product, easily assembled and it also has a great closure strap for stowing away/travel."

From the pictures it is easy to tell that Oliver has plenty of room inside either laying down or standing. That cozy padding on the bottom looks great too.

Oliver, thanks for coming by and sending us the pictures. Have a great labor day!
